I’m trying to find some all season tires that can make due in the winter and not suck too much in the summer. Anyone have any experience with the Sumitomo HTR A/S P02? They got good subjective tire rack feedback and the first version did well in consumer report tests (and most reviewers say the second gen is much better). But what says Oppo?

In the words of the great Mannie Fresh himself: “Sumitomo tires and they gotta be run flats.”

how winter is your winter?

if its a proper winter, I vote buy 2 used sets of tires.

Or if they don’t have your size in the AS-03 since I think they’re fazing them out. There is the AS-05

I actually just bought these for my ‘16 R/T charger to get me through our Ohio winter, and so far I am impressed with their performance for their price. They are not that costly compared to the other options I had (why must 20" tires cost so much and have so few options?!) and they needed to be quick as I wore down the OE Firestones in 1.5 years. I decided on these instead of the Goodyear RS/A due to past experience with GY, poor review marks, and no tread warranty.

The road noise is slightly higher pitched than I am used to in the car from the OE’s, but they are still on the quiet side. They do seem to be a comfortable ride, if not a hair softer than the OE Firestones.

I had them installed the Friday before Christmas (Merry Christmas to me!) and it immediately dumped 5" of snow on the ground with some ice. They did well in the snow, even with unplowed driveways and the ice traction getting off the line was what I would expect for an A/S. We had some decent weather days recently and they seem to do fairly well in the warmer weather so far (max of 70 degrees outside).

Thanks. Your feedback sounds pretty good (especially like you point out, for the price.)
